The Value of a Smile

Scene 1: An Infoscion(that's how an employee at Infosys is addressed), goes to the cafeteria in his building to fill water in his bottle. There a house keeping person(who is responsible for keeping the floors clean) is filling water in her bottle, and on seeing the Infoscion coming over with an empty bottle in hand, she immediately steps aside even without filling her bottle completely. The Infoscion lost in his own world goes on and fills his bottle and just walks to his cubicle, without even bothering to look at the face of the house keeping staff who had stepped aside for him.

Scene 2: The same Infoscion starts from his cubicle for lunch. When he reaches the entrance of his building, he sees N. R. Narayana Murthy, Founder, Chairman and Chief Mentor of Infosys, on the other side of the door. Thanking his fortunes on that day, the Infoscion politely opens the door for NRN(that's how he is know across the company) and waits till NRN walks in. On seeing this guy opening the door for him NRN thanks the Infoscion with a smile. The Infoscion is so delighted that he rushes back to his cubicle and informs everyone over there from his project about the incident.

These are two different situations which actually have many things in common.
Quite often we fail to notice small gestures of goodwill, of generosity, of benevolence, of modesty, of compassion by people around us.

Even if we notice it, we fail to reciprocate to it, to appreciate it or even to acknowledge it. Especially if it’s from a person who belongs to the lower strata compared to us in terms of the unwritten standards defined by the society, be it in terms of occupation, financial capability, education or even appearance.

But it’s a different case when someone more superior to us or at a higher position, acknowledges us or our deeds.

The Infoscion whose day was made by a smile and “Thank You” by NRN, someone whom he looks up with lot of respect, failed miserably on his part, when he didn’t even bother to look at the house keeping staff who stepped aside so that he could fill his bottle of water.

We in our lives have failed many a times like that. So many times that, we wouldn’t be able to even recollect them.

Even today we would have missed to appreciate a small gesture of goodwill from someone….

From the driver who stopped the bus on seeing us running towards it, even though it was not a designated stop…
From the security guard who helped us in opening our bag for security check while entering the campus…
From the person who waited at the door, so that we could pass through it first…
From the person who stopped the lift door from closing on seeing us rush to the lift…
From the person who served us food…
From the person who cleaned our table at the food court before we sat there…
From the person who replied to our query we put up in "Bulletin Board", an online discussion forum accessible to all employees across the company…
From the person who came in to clean our cubicle…

There are many more instances like this. These are just a few among them that came into my mind in a flash.
I am sure we would have missed at least one among them, at least one gesture, which could have been reciprocated with just a simple smile.

At times we are hesitant to take the first step, thinking whether our smile will be reciprocated by the other person or not. Well, don’t think too much, if someone is too tired to give you a smile, leave one of your own, because no one needs a smile as much as those who have none to give.

Occupation, financial strength, education and social status don’t tell the real worth of a person. It’s the way how he/she acknowledges and reciprocates to the small gestures of goodwill, of generosity, of benevolence, of modesty, of compassion by fellow human beings, that says how worthy he/she is.

It's time for all of us to do an introspection of ourselves as to whether we are really worthy individuals.
It’s time for us to realize the value of a smile.

FRIENDS...

FRIENDS...

A relation that as far as I am concerned… is among the most essential and sacred ones possible….

I mean…what is a friend….someone u talk with and whom u roam about with , someone u have a good time with…not exactly…if u ask me…I mean a friend is not just someone u can just have a good time with…that should be there…but there is a lot lot more……A friend is someone whom u are totally comfortable with….

Someone to whom u can take ur problems, sure that he will be there for u…

Who wont leave u when u need him…

Friendship is not about expectations…

U don’t expect anything from a friend…

but he's there for u when u need him the most…I don’t know if any of u have seen the sms about a true friend…A good friend tells u to study before an exam…

A true friend is someone who sits outside the exam hall shouting..”Machi bitta thooki podu…flying squad varanga….”

I mean….

its supposed to be just a joke, but isn’t that true, a friend does what u need, not worried about himself…Your friend will disagree with you and make u angry sometimes….

If he doesn’t….then he isn’t your friend….he ll guide you along telling you when you are wrong….irrespective whether u like it or not…Let me finish with some nice quotes that I found….
Is duniya main dost kam milenge ...

Duniya main gham hi gham milenge ...

Jahan duniya nazar pher legi ...

Uss mor per dost tumhain hum milenge...

Dil ki kashti bikhar gayi hoti, aur rooh ke zakhm bhar gaye hote....

zindagi aap jaise dosto ki amanat hai varna hum to kabke mar gaye hote...

FRIENDS R LIKE SHOES,SOME LOOSE N SOME TIGHT N SOME FIT...
THEY HELP U AS THEY WALK THRU LIFE...
THANX FOR BEING OF MY SIZE ...

Dosti hai naam sukh-dukh nibhane ka, dosti raaz sada muskurane ka, yeh koi pal bhar ki pehchaan nahi yeh saath hai umar bhar nibhane ka.

Thank U 4 being my frnd.... :-)

The True Meaning of Joy

The True Meaning of Joy

All this talking about happiness got me thinking….

Everything is life is relative isn’t it…I mean to realize the value of happiness u need to experience sadness. You might feel really down and simply feel like giving up, that is the time when u need to simply push on, cos things are bound to get better soon…I mean …when god closes all doors open in front of u , he will surely open a window somewhere. We need to realize that life is a great leveler, if u are in bad times now, then take it as a sign of good things to follow in the future, cos if u have already had your share of sadness, u are bound to get happiness down the line to even the scales.

If u want to know the real pleasure of water…ask someone who has stayed thirsty for 2 days…if u want to appreciate the taste of a bowl of rice…ask someone who hasn’t eaten for weeks…if u want to know what finding true love is ask a person who lost someone whom he loved….

Happiness also has different meaning for each one of us…

So, whatever happens people, keep living life to its fullest….as they say time and tide wait for none…what makes u sad today will definitely lead to happier moments some other day…there is always light at the end of the tunnel....

Thokar khakar gungunana zindagi hai

Ghum peekar muskurana zindagi hai

Sukh ke sath jiye to kya jiye

Ghum bhulakar jashm manana zindagi hai

Here’s to a lot of happy days ahead…..

Life is Good...

Life is Good...

There are times when we feel that our heart is sorrounded with dark clouds of disappointment, hatred and self pity। These are time when we arent ourselves we tend to start longing for the happier time that we once used to have... we want to have company when we are alone.. we become ambivalent and yearn for some loneliness when we have company... these are the time when we have to beleive that those dark clouds are just passing ones and sun will rise once again with all its strength to fill our heart with hope and happiness.

God creates humans and treats everyone the same, leaves us in this hard and ever changing world to fight our way through...some of us fight hard and win over the fierce army of jealousy, hopelessness, hatred and the difficult times that are eternal to become great humans... these are the ones who have fought through their ways ... faced hard times and have become stronger in every such hopeless situation they have been in...

If any of you are facing difficult times ... times that are clouding your brains and heart ... eating away your hope ...take my simple advice hold onto something ... hold onto your friends, hold onto your loved ones, hold onto your parents, hold onto every small beleif that you have that will give you the samllest possible hope.. for hope is an exponential curve if there is small progress it increases rapidly... filling your heart with pride and strength to face anything...

If you do not have anything to hold onto ... if everyone who were a part of your world walks out and you feel alone and friendless hold onto yourself ...
because life is good...
